Fujitsu Lean Solutions successfully implements a Lean project at CSSS de Trois-Rivières

The Fujitsu Lean Solutions team has implemented a Lean project in the emergency room at Centre de santé Cloutier-du Rivage. This method has led to reduced wait times, improved customer satisfaction and increased productivity.

The Centre de santé et de services sociaux de Trois-Rivières, which is responsible for Centre de santé Cloutier-du Rivage, wanted to cut down the long wait times for both ambulatory patients and patients on stretchers, curb rising operating expenses and turn around the declining job satisfaction of emergency staff.

Mandated in 2009 to optimize this emergency room’s processes, Fujitsu introduced the Lean Healthcare approach of Fujitsu Lean Solutions, a pragmatic and structured approach based on the Toyota industrial management system, which is recognized worldwide for its efficiency.

Tangible results were produced in less than a year. Wait time was lowered by over 50% and client satisfaction increased from 76% to over 95%. The emergency room at Centre de santé Cloutier-du Rivage is now able to treat up to 40% more people, with no additional staff.

Lean Healthcare is designed to optimize the performance of organizations in the healthcare field, while maintaining respect for individuals. In particular, it leads to elimination of non-value-added activities and reduction of wait and response times. It also takes the patients’ needs, the employees’ quality of life and cost reduction into consideration.

Bravo to the Fujitsu Lean Solutions team, particularly project manager
Bernard Gagnon, his colleagues Jérôme Tanguay and Bastien Roy, and Camil Villeneuve, Vice President of Fujitsu Lean Solutions.
